Thrown Weapons Championship
Posted on September 7, 2016 By Muin maqq Minain
After a number of questions as to whether we’d be looking to have a Thrown Weapons Champion added to the Barony’s roster of Champions, we are not only moving ahead with the idea, but we have a great opportunity coming up next weekend!
At the Wrightstown Faire, there’ll be a number of Thrown Weapon Marshals, including the Southern Region Deputy, so between the potential for drawing a crowd and the increased desire from throwers within the Barony – and among our neighbors – to include this activity, it looks like we’ll be running a tournament!
We’ll need to decide on the format and it’ll likely be on Saturday to catch the most participants, but if you weren’t thinking of attending the Faire before, this might be a reason to consider attending 🙂 (Initial discussions are leaning towards pure point-based throws with axes for the inaugural tourney; whoever is selected as Champion will be able to craft the tournament next year, as is traditional for all our other Champions.)
We’ll also hold two opportunities for Royal Rounds, before and after the tournament, so if you’re looking to get your numbers for the year, here’s another chance!
We look forward to seeing everyone there; in addition to the usual faces, we’re seeing quite an increase in interest already this year, and are glad to announce we’re in a bigger space with more room to grow. A number of people will be camping and the modern tents won’t be as far, now, from the period tents as our new activity space is closer to the modern camping area. As always, we encourage many activities, especially those that lend themselves to demos, particularly any that would appeal to the many children who attend with their families.
See you there, and look forward to any and all who would vie to be our first Thrown Weapons Champion!
In Service,
Mael Eoin and Ysmay
Baron and Baroness of Bhakail
