October 2026 Officer Reports

Following are the monthly officer reports that have been submitted prior to the Bhakail monthly business meeting of Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Social Media (Deputy to the Seneschal) – Magnifica Scolastica Capellaria

We continue to have active social media on Facebook and Discord. Graphics have been created to advertise upcoming events: Pax, Bailiwick meetings, and Yule competitions. Please let me know if you would like me to make regular posts about any specific events/meetings, etc.

Please continue to share important information on facebook, discord and the email list. The Email list remains the only official communication in the barony. Please be sure to update all three with practice/meeting location changes and cancelations to avoid confusion. If you do not have access to one of the platforms, please let me know via direct message so I can cross post accordingly. Platforms do not always notify Admins in a timely manner.

Chancellor of the Exchequer – Lady Ellyn Grene

The Q3 report is due at the end of the month, so I’ve been working to make sure this is submitted on time. The Kingdom Exchequer has informed me that the use of electronic checks is now allowed, so hopefully this will streamline our check writing for reimbursements.

Chronicler – Beck of Copeland

Salamander Pursuivant – Lord Finnólfr Hrafnsson

I have begun researching name options for Lady Tink to find a way to register a version of her name. Otherwise, nothing to report.

Rapier Marshal – Don Melchior Kriebel

Fencing continued to be held in the Reformation Lutheran Church in Media, PA. Attendance was moderate and there were no incidents.

Archery Marshal – Lady Ellyn Grene

I implore whomever in the Barony has annoyed the weather and archery higher powers to please make amends. A sunny Sunday or two would be nice so we can have a few more practices before we go on hiatus for the winter.

Bailiwick of Ivyeinrust – Lady Livia Petralia

We’ve had a lot going on!
Bad news first:
We wrote a constitution for the student group, under Penn’s new requirements. It was pushed back for edits. We made those. And it was rejected again. The main problem is that I’m having trouble in good conscience writing that all of the officers must be full time undergraduate students, when we don’t actually have any active in the group.
So for the Fall 2026 semester, we have failed official student group registration, and so we do not have access to reserve spaces around campus for free.
Good news:
I still work at the library and have not had any difficulty reserving rooms within the libraries at Penn.
We are becoming more active.
There is now DANCE PRACTICE on campus! With live music! With advertising designed by Scolastica! https://ivyeinrust.eastkingdom.org/events/european-dance-practice/
We are having A&S evenings every other week! And those also have advertising flyers now! I have been posting them in classroom buildings.
AND we have had some undergraduate student interest. So there’s a chance we can interest enough students to try again at registration for the Spring semester.
And a question:
Since Baronial heavy weapons practice is in the city – is it easy to get to by public transportation? It looks like I can get them as close as the Moyamensing & Reed stop of the 57 bus. What’s the walk from there like? If it’s not bad, I’d like to also advertise that practice on campus.

Commons and Champions

Commons and Champions is September 27, 2026 at Ridley Creek State Park. Mikael will be holding order meetings for the Order of the Horse and the Order of the Salamander. There is a new requirement that even for free events such as Commons that everyone check into Gate.

Yule

Eyfura reported that planning is going well. Eva has volunteered to run gate.

Tavern

Bids are being accepted for Tavern. The tentative date is Saturday, January 30, 2027.

Other Upcoming Events in the Region

River Wars will be held September 19 in Iron Bog.

New Business

New Bhakail Officer Google Drive

Eyfura described the new Bhakail-Officers Google Shared Drive she has been organizing. The goal is to have a common place where officers can prepare and share information for monthly meetings and . Muin asked officers to make sure they have monthly reports submitted by the start of each monthly meeting. Officers are free to either continue emailing their monthly reports to the Seneschal and Chronicler or add them to the document in the google drive.   

Dance Practice

There is now dance practice in the Barony, hosted by the Bailiwick. They are every other Monday on the University of Pennsylvania campus.

The theme for Yule will be the Korean Winter Solstice. There was discussion of having a non-competitive A&S display for anyone who would like to display projects who do not wish to compete. Be on the lookout for calls for various volunteer opportunities.

Tavern

Bids are being accepted for Tavern. The tentative date is Saturday, January 30, 2027.

Congratulations to all the Bhakailis who were recognized by the Crown with awards at Pennsic:

Dillena was inducted into the Order of the Silver Brooch

River Wars will be held September 19 in Iron Bog. There will be an A&S meet and greet, so if you are interested in any particular A&S topic you can come and meet Maunches or Laurels working in that area.

August 2026 Officer Reports

Following are the monthly officer reports that have been submitted prior to the Bhakail monthly business meeting of August 20, 2026.

Coronet – Baron Mikael melrakki 

Pennsic is done and some Bhakailis were recognized. 

Dillena was inducted into the Order of the Silver Brooch

Tink was inducted into the Order of the Silver Wheel

Chana was elevated to the Order of the Pelican

I also held a brief court at Pennsic.  I awarded Flames to Darmin, Guillaume, Alexander and Morwill for their work on building the Bhakail camp’s new shower trailer.

Also, I thanked Dillena for her service as Baronial TW Champion.  As she is leaving the barony for a new life in Drachenwald.  I took back the regalia and will be running the next tournament in her name.

Speaking of baronial champions, there will be 4 baronial champions’ tournaments in the month of September.  

On Sunday, September 13th, we will be hosting the Archery and Thrown Weapons baronial championships in place of the regular practices on that day.  Thrown Weapons at 11am and Archery at 1:30.  

On Sunday, September 27th, we will be having our annual Champions and Commons event at which we will be having tournaments for our Heavy Weapons and Rapier Champions.

The 4 new champions will be officially made during court at Champions and Commons.

Also, during Champions and Commons, I will be holding order meetings for our service awards, the Horse and the Salamander.

The second quarter report for Bhakail has been submitted to the Kingdom.

Rapier Marshal – Don Melchior Kriebel

Practice continued to be held at the Reformation Lutheran Church in Media, PA. We had to cancel one practice due to the floor being resurfaced and the weather being much to hot to safely fence outside. Attendance was otherwise moderate and there were no incidents.

Archery Marshal – Lady Ellyn Grene

Practices have resumed now that Pennsic is past, assuming the weather cooperates.

Thrown Weapons Marshal – Kenarri Mikael melrakki 

Practices continue on Sundays 11am – 1 pm.  Loaner equipment is available and no experience is necessary.  There will be no practice on Sept 27th due to Champions and Commons.

Minister of Arts & Sciences – Lady Margarette la Gantiere

Plans have been discussed about adding an A&S Show and Share, a low bar arts and sciences display to Champions & Commons to encourage folks in the Barony to share their A&S interests.

A non competitive A&S Display at Yule was discussed with a theme that coordinates with the event theme. To allow folks who might not want to compete additional opportunities to display.

Minister of the List – Honorable Lord Bryan mac Dhughaill an Boghadair

In preparation for Champions and Commons, I have spoken with the fencing champion. I will contact the heavy champion this week.

Mikael reported that the plans for the event are making progress. The date for Commons and Champions is September 28, 2026 at Ridley Creek State Park.

Yule

A bid has been submitted by Eyfura, Bjorn and Chana as co-stewards. Nabiya Bak is on board as the head cook. The budget has been approved by the Council of the Exchequer. A vote was held to approve the vote and carried.  

Tavern

Bids are being accepted for Tavern. The tentative date is Saturday, January 30, 2027.

July 2026 Officer Reports

Following are the monthly officer reports that have been submitted prior to the Bhakail monthly business meeting of July 16, 2026.

Coronet – Baron Mikael melrakki 

Pennsic is upon us.

Champions and Commons is on the horizon.

Yule planning is progressing nicely.

Lots of things to look forward to.

Upcoming craft days will be working on list poles, and banners. Ideas and designs being collected now.

Social Media (Deputy to the Seneschal) – Honorable Lady Scolastica Capellaria

The barony continues to have social media. Wahoo! However, we are having an influx of spam accounts on the discord. I apologize for any annoyance this may cause as it’s often at strange hours. That being said, Mael Eoin and I are looking at different strategies to create a second step between joining the discord and being able to post to curb this issue. 

To this end, I am interested in adding some moderators to both the Facebook and the Discord Social media team who may be able to provide extra coverage at times when I’m unable to check social media (like multi day camping events in Canada or Maine). Please let me know if you are interested. You do not have to volunteer for both. Ideally the Facebook mod should be someone who uses FB regularly, and Discord someone who uses Discord regularly.

Currently working on the second quarter report that is due by the end of the month. Also, there is a new non-member registration report form that is to be used for all events starting in August.

Bhakail Rapier practice continued to be held at the Reformation Lutheran Church in Media, PA. Attendance was moderate and there were no incidents.

Archery Marshal – Lady Ellyn Grene

There will be archery practice this Sunday, July 19, weather permitting. Practice is cancelled for the three weeks after that for Pennsic.

Thrown Weapons Marshal – Kenarri Mikael melrakki 

Practices canceled on Jul 26, Aug 2 and Aug 9.

Baronial Championship will occur at a practice prior to Champions and Commons.  Specific date to be determined.

Officer Positions

At the May business meeting the first votes were held and passed to accept the letters of intent for the positions of Seneschal, MoAS, Chamberlain and Webminister. Second votes were held:

For the position of Seneschal, an LOI has been submitted by Muin maqq Minain. A second vote was held to elect Muin to the position, which passed.

For the position of MoAS, an LOI has been submitted by Margarette la Gantiere.  A second vote was held to elect Margarette to the position, which passed.

For the position of Chamberlain, an LOI has been submitted by Eyfura inn trausti. A second vote was held to elect Eyfura to the position, which passed.

For the position of Webminister, an LOI has been submitted by Mark/Bjorn. A second  vote was held to elect Bjorn to the position, which passed.

June 2026 Officer Reports

Following are the monthly officer reports that have been submitted prior to the Bhakail monthly business meeting of June 18, 2026..

Coronet – Baron Mikael melrakki 

Award Recommendations:   Now is the time to let me know of anyone you think is deserving of a baronial award that can be given out at Champions and Commons.  That event is a good chance to give out awards to fighters and fencers.  Let me know who you think is deserving of recognition.

Craft Day:  On Saturday, June 18th, I hosted a craft day to make pouches to be given out as largesse.  I must admit going into it, my expectations were low.  I was hoping that at least 2 or 3 people would show up and that we could make about 10 pouches.  Well, we knocked it out of the park…  There were 8 people working on them and we made an astounding 77 pouches!!!  Thank you to everyone who showed up and helped out.

I will be scheduling more craft days.  Upcoming project ideas are list poles for the fighters and fencers and new banners.   If you have any ideas for new items that can help benefit the barony, please let me know.

My Q2 report was submitted to kingdom June 1. We continue to have an active facebook group, discord, instagram and email list. There have been no incidents regarding the same. All is well with regard to the social media of Bhakail.

Waking of the Salemander

The weather was wonderful and attendance was good. There were a good number of campers and new people, and a great representation of artisans. Had a nice representation of artisans.Margarette reported for the event steward that planning is going well.

Commons

A bid was submitted from event steward Tink, and has has been reviewed and approved by the Council of the Exquecher. The event date is September 27 in Ridley Creek State Park. The bid was accepted by acclimation.

Yule

Bids are being accepted, and there is a group tentatively considering a bid. The German Society is held for the second Saturday of December.

May 2026 Officer Reports

Following are the monthly officer reports that have been submitted prior to the Bhakail monthly business meeting of May 21, 2026.

Coronet – Baron Mikael melrakki 

I’m looking for award recommendations. If you think anyone around the barony is deserving of recognition please let me know.  I like to give scribes 2-3 months notice to produce scrolls, so I would need to know within the next month or so for any awards going out at Champions and Commons.  It’s also not too early to send me recommendations for Yule.

And speaking of Yule… The new heirs, Ozurr and Hemma, who will be King and Queen for Yule, live in Canada. If we would want to invite them to Yule, it would be best to give them as much notice as possible so that they have time to plan their travel.  It would be best if we can get a bid in the next month or so.

We continue to have social media and no issues. Please remember if you invite friends to the facebook group to tell them to answer the questions so they can be approved in a timely manner. Bhakail Rapier practice continued to be held at the Reformation Lutheran Church in Media. Attendance varied from light to heavy. There were no incidents.

Archery Marshal – Lady Ellyn Grene

Practices continue on Sunday at 1:30pm, weather permitting. I am out of town on Sunday, June 6, so need to confirm a marshal will be present, otherwise practice that day will be cancelled.

Thrown Weapons Marshal – Kenarri Mikael melrakki 

Practices continue Sundays at 11am.  Loaner equipment available. No experience necessary.

Bailiwick of Ivyeinrust – Livia Petralia

We’ve actually been pretty busy this month!

Three of us went to Hartshorn-dale’s dance practice on May 1st, and 6 of us converged on Queen and Rook’s Renaissance Fantasy Street Faire the next day! 

While there, I entered a raffle for free tickets to the Philadelphia Renn Faire at Fort Mifflin over Memorial Day Weekend, so that might be our next field trip! https://www.phillyfaire.com/ . At least one of the vendors (ATS galleries) looks like they might be SCA adjacent. Do any of you know who runs that store? 

The next Bailiwick Business Meeting (online) will be Tuesday, May 26th at 7:15pm. You all are welcome and feel free to log in and say hi.
