Yule is fast approaching!

Greetings to all who read these words!
As we wind down this holiday weekend, remember that we have our annual Yule event coming up in 2 weeks!
…that’s right, 2 weeks!
Yule is our favorite Baronial event, being *the* celebration of the year for us, locally. It is a time of socializing, eating and drinking with all of our friends and chosen family. Champions are chosen through wonderful A&S displays and the annual brewing competition. We get to meet with our Orders to discuss the many, many worthy people that they wish to see join their ranks and, then, we also get to have Court where we have people join their friends in these Orders, have our officers renew their fealty in their service to the Kingdom and Barony and, yes, we call on our variously appointed agents to render the taxes they’ve very legitimately collected for the benefit of all.
We’re also excited to relate that we’ll be seeing a number of former Barony members – still Bhakaili at heart, but living elsewhere – including His Highness Roger Stockton and Her Highness Zanobia Fiorentini, Crown Prince and Princess of the West!
This being the last Yule where Her Excellency Ysmay and I will be seated as Baron and Baroness of Bhakail, we’re looking forward to seeing everyone. There’ll be laughter, toasts, hugs and, no doubt, tears. Yule is very special to us as a gathering and we look forward to spending time with as many of you as possible. We have some weighty largesse to gift, too, and I hear a number of folks will have some tasty libations to share.
For any who are holding out for a feast spot, the good news is that there are spots open; we don’t usually get to say that *at* the event, but as of now, there are spots open. If you’ve not had Lord John Marshall’s cooking, you’re in for a treat. Corner me sometime and ask me about cooks in the SCA; I can’t start writing about those who inspire me or I’ll be here all night (and tearing up), but the long and short of it is that John’s feast is one of those you won’t want to miss. He is on a very short list of cooks who has research *and* execution down, consistently, in my opinion.
The bad news is that with electronic payments off the table for events, we have less of an idea of who is coming to Yule, including who might be on board for feast.
With only two weeks left, it would help the staff plan if registrations could be in as soon as possible. If you’ll be at the Social this week, I can drop reservations off at Doña Damiana’s (my gym is near her house, so it’d give me extra incentive to hit the gym) 😉 Pop it in the mail if you have to, but getting it directly to Damiana or to someone who can get it to her this week would be best.
We hope you have had a wonderful holiday with family and we look forward to having another wonderful time with us all at Yule, soon!
Mael Eoin and Ysmay
Baron and Baroness of Bhakail
