Wrightstown Demo Information for Volunteers
This has been copied from a Facebook post. The following message is from Aurddeilen regarding the Wrightstown Demo:
Good Day to all those in the Barony of Bhakail. The following post contains a few final instructions and information for those who are volunteering their time at the Wrightstown Village Renn Faire this coming weekend.
GOOD DAY TO ALL WRIGHTSTOWN DEMO VOLUNTEERS!
I would like to personally thank all those who have offered to volunteer at this year’s Demo. This marks our 16th year of participation with the Wrightstown Village Renaissance Faire, and I am very pleased to announce that we have nearly 50 people from multiple Shires and Baronies from all across the Southern and Western Regions of the East Kingdom who have offered their time and expertise to make this Demo a success. The following post contains some final instructions and information for all volunteers. It is a bit lengthy, but I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to read all of it prior to coming to the Faire.
1. WE ARE IN A NEW LOCATION THIS YEAR. This new location allows us to have mundane camping nearby, and expand the types of marshalled activities that we can showcase. Since this is a new location, we do not yet know what the public traffic patterns will be, so please bear with us as we attempt to figure that out. I am also pleased to announce that we will be sharing our allotted space with Markland this year. Though they will be setup separately, we will be cooperating and supporting each other’s activities. So please take some time to get to know them, they are awesome people! Here is a link to a PDF of the FAIRE MAP which shows our new location: http://www.villagefaire.org/map#
2. THERE ARE TWO SETUP TIMES; 3PM TIL DARK ON FRIDAY Sept. 16th, and 7AM TILL 10AM ON SATURDAY Sept. 17th. If you are bringing a period pavilion to setup in the main display area, or would like to help with the initial setup, we would appreciate that you arrive as early as you can on Friday Evening. If you cannot come Friday evening, please arrive as early as you can on Saturday morning. ALL CARS MUST BE OFF SITE BY 10AM ON SATURDAY MORNING, so please make sure that anything you are bringing is unloaded before then. The Faire hours are 11am to 6pm, and NO cars are permitted on site during that time.
3. ADMISSION: There will be a List of SCA Volunteers given to the personnel at the Faire Gate, so if you are arriving after 10am on Saturday, please check in and give them your mundane name to gain free admission. If you are arriving before 10am, you should be able to just go directly to our Demo area without passing through the gate. Please be aware that we have no control over the Faire workers, so if you have any problems with admission please contact me on my mobile phone; my phone number is listed in the Event Announcement on East Kingdom Calendar.
4. THERE WILL BE A CHANGING TENT should you need to change from mundane clothing into SCA Garb or vice versa. However space is limited for storing items.
5. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN CHAIRS AND TABLES if you need them. The Faire is no longer providing us with tables or chairs.
6. PLEASE BRING BANNERS if you have them. We would like to have as much color as possible. If you have portable holes and poles for your banner that will be helpful, otherwise we can hang them from the sides of pavilions.
7. PLEASE BRING AN ITEM FOR THE A&S DISPLAY if you can. We will have a 10×20 canopy set up with tables to display A&S items. Please make sure our Shire MOAS or Chatelaine is aware of which items are yours before you put them on a display table. We will also have a “Meet and Greet” Chatelaine’s table in the A&S area with SCA literature. So please direct the public there if they want additional information on the Society.
8. A NOTE ABOUT INTERACTING WITH CHILDREN: This Faire is a family event and there will be lots of children of all ages in attendance. Regardless of whether or not you have Federal and State background clearances, we do not want to end up being babysitters. Please make sure that the parents or legal guardians of the child are present when you interact with them, and that there is at least one other non-related adult present besides yourself. Please do not touch any child without permission from their parents or guardian.
9. There is no fixed schedule this year, so we will be playing it by ear; alternating different Marshaled Activities along with Music and Dance throughout the day. There will also be ongoing A&S Demonstrations. As our new locations places us directly adjacent to the Main Faire Ceremony Stage, the Faire Director has asked that we do not have any noisy activities going on while that Stage is in use. If you are a Fencer or Heavy Fighter, please check-in with our Shire Knight Marshal before entering the List Field.
10. THERE IS NO DAYBOARD, but there are multiple food vendors. So please bring your own food, or purchase it at the Faire.
11. THERE ARE NO SHOWERS, So if you are camping overnight please be aware of this.
12. MOST IMPORTANTLY … HAVE FUN! … This is as much an event for you as it is a Demo for the public. In addition to Society activities there are a number of cool things going on at the Faire. You are most welcome to take a break and check it out, so please do so.
ALSO, some of us generally go out to eat after the Faire closes on Saturday, and again after break-down on Sunday. There is also talk of having a Campfire and Bardic Circle on Saturday evening. We would love to have you join us for both!
AGAIN THANK YOU! … SEE YOU AT THE FAIRE! 🙂
