New Thrown Weapons Champion

Greetings to all who read these words!

This past weekend, at the annual Wrightstown Village Faire, we opened the range for our first Thrown Weapons Champion. As an activity that has been significantly gaining interest, there were requests that we seek out and name a Champion who could represent the Barony at events, and we’re glad to see so many responded!

Lady Alana O’Keeve and Thane Alexander Mackristyne opened the range (and had a marshall in training step in, to boot) and nine contenders from at least four groups threw in a simple points-based axes-only tournament. Lord Bryan an Boghadair started off, throwing for 7 points, which was answered a number of throwers later when Lord Calin Macsalny matched for 7. The Marshals were preparing a tie-breaker of some sort when milord Þorsteinn Hroðbjartsson threw for 11 points, winning the tournament.

The range was also open before and after the tournament for folks to throw for Royal Rounds. We’re sad to say that while two gentles were taking turns throwing for scores to be reported, someone (who may or may not have been our new Champion) broke the target with a spear. (It had been threatening to break practically all day; we were just hoping to get through the tournament, and are glad it made it that far.) 🙂

We have no regalia, yet, for this Champion, but we look forward to seeing Þorsteinn standing with the other Champions with us wherever possible, as well as representing the Barony as all of our Champions do, both in the field he has competed in and in general.

For our newest and first Thrown Weapons Champion, Þorsteinn Hroðbjartsson, Vivat!

Mael Eoin and Ysmay
Baron and Baroness of Bhakail
