December 2016 Baronial Reports

Coronet

The last month was fairly short on events, but the baroness was able to spend a weekend with five of the local fencers, including our current rapier champion,  driving first to the Riding of Gigglewick for Northern Region Rapier Academy and then to Carolingia for Central Region Rapier Practice, where there were more classes and more fencing. The comportment and skill shown by these good gentles was and is always exemplary, and it was a joy to join them for the weekend.

Whereas we are still recovering from this year’s Yule celebration, we would like to send out a found and enthusiastic thank you to all the many people who helped make the event possible this year. We will send out a more detailed report in the coming month.

Yours in Service,

Ysmay and Mael Eoin.

For Barony, Bailiwick, and Canton,

Pray know I remain,

  – Rowen Cloteworthy, Salamander Pursuivant

Chronicler

A heartfelt thanks to Martyn de Halliwell for filling the post of Chronicler for the past two months, as I was unable to do so. He has also offered to be my deputy!

I am proposing that rather than sending an quarterly Salamander full of articles around, that I as chronicler could volunteer to facilitate getting articles up on our website, all tagged as the Salamander. I think this would both add interest to our website, and allow for more convenience in getting articles out, as they could be scheduled far in advance, or posted almost immediately as they are received.

Chatelaine

The new Baronial Chatelaine checking in for her December report!

First of all, I would like to thank Lady Violet Coleson for 3 amazing, wonderful and successful years of service as Barony of Bhakail’s Chatelaine.  She has put in many hours of her own time, effort, and kindness in welcoming and acclimating newcomers to the Barony and the SCA en large.  It is locally thanks to her that our numbers have grown.  I can only hope that I will be able to follow in the shadow of her footsteps.  So thank you Lady Violet for all that you’ve done in this capacity.

In newcomer news, I’m delighted to share that we have seen some healthy interest from new people.  In the past 2 months we have received contacts from 15 people!  A few will be attending their very first event tomorrow at Bhakail’s Yule event, and others have been participating locally at our weekly activities such as Fencing, A&S, and attending our weekly Canton Social.

Chancellor Minor

Youth activities were held at Yule and were well attended. And a good time was had by all. ce

In service to the Barony,

Lady Alesia de Maris

Web Minister

Your friendly local Bhakaili webminister checking in for the month of December!

It’s been a pretty quiet month, with the exception of the changing of the guard for multiple officer positions in the Barony!  With change in responsibility comes change in email access.  As such, I have arranged for the new Seneschal, Exchequer, and Chatelaine to have access to their email accounts.

I also took care of a number of admin related housekeeping items for the Website.

Look forward to a more lengthy 2016 report shortly after the new year!
