ANNOUNCEMENTS
Hartshorndale was asking if we are going to do the Knights in the Garden demo in the Spring. It was brought up that a lot of man power and resources were used but that we were not able to recruit, and it may be better to use that energy toward other events, unless we are offered something in exchange.

Coronets
Greetings!
It was a relatively quiet month, quite possibly due to some big event coming up… Still, we had a wonderful Court of Love which included our Baronial Bardic Championship and we’re honored to welcome Lord Sean O’Morain as Our new Champion. We thank Lady Girsell Macleod for her service in the role and look forward to the coming year’s service from Lord Sean!
We hope everyone has their Pennsic planning and preparations in hand – certainly by the time this is read, we will be pretty close to Pennsic itself – and would like to remind everyone of a few items happening at Pennsic that might be of interest:
* Friday of Middle Weekend (8/5 starting at 7:00 PM)
Bhakail and Friends Cocktail Hour and Bardic Party.
This is a chance for all Bhakailies and Friends of Bhakail to come and enjoy each other’s company. We will also be hosting a bardic circle where we hope to get filks old and new, and stories of the SCA. Period performances are, of course, always welcome, but we would like to make sure that folks who want to explore some other traditions of the SCA are welcome.
* Saturday of Middle Weekend (8/6 starting at 5:00)
Muster for Opening Ceremony
Please join us as we proudly march Bhakail to opening ceremonies (held in the Great Hall) Wear Bhakail colors if you have them and prepare to make some noise. If you are one of our Champions, and can make it, please wear your regalia if you brought it with you. This is also an excellent opportunity to retain.
Known World Players Read-through (Starting at 6:00)
For those not attending the Opening Ceremony, the Known World Players will be having their tradition read-through in our common area. All are welcome to watch, but please be as quiet as possible as this is a working gathering.
* Sunday of Middle Weekend (8/7 starting at noon)
Lord Calin and His Excellency Mael Eoin will be guarding the East Kingdom gate for two hours. If you’d like to join in, please feel free; likewise, if you’d like to sign up for a shift, there are many left and we’d be all too happy to arrange folks to stand together and/or take turns so that even the 2 hour shift might be broken up, if desired.
* Monday of War Week (8/8 at 6:00)
Runnymeade dinner for Their Excellencies.
There is often opportunity to help with the ceremony of Runnymeade, so if you are interested in helping, please talk to us close to the day.
* Tuesday of War Week (8/9 starting at 6:00 PM)
Period Bardic and Games
Thanks to the gracious generosity of Aurddeilen-ap-Robet, we will once again be hosting our Period Bardic and Games night. We will be starting with lawn games at 6:00 and moving on to dicing, cards and other games as the evening progresses. Everyone is welcome, but we do ask that folks minimize the amount of modern items showing in the common area. This includes modern lighting devices. That being said, if folks have candles or torches that can be used in the common area for the evening, they would be welcomed. For the bardic night, we would appreciate period performances of any kind. This is often a good venue for trying out new performance styles, so if you have been thinking about presenting a period piece, please come by and give it a try.
The 3rd annual East vs. Mid chess match will be happening once more! Starting at 6pm, we’ll be seeing some friends from the Mid – once more, the Barony of Flaming Gryphon will be defending their title against a Barony from the East. The Barony of Concordia of the Snows had a conflict, unfortunately, so while we have a request out for another Territorial Baron or Baroness to take their place, Mael Eoin will take the seat if needed.
* Wednesday of War Week (8/10 Starting at 10:00 AM)
Known World Baronial Champions Tourney
From 10 am to approximately 4 PM, Their Excellencies will be attending the Known World Baronial Champions Tourney. If anyone is interested in helping Us get over to the field, please come by the camp around 9:30. If you would like to retain, you can stop by the field at any point during the tourney. This is an important tourney for Us and We believe it goes a long way to improving inner kingdom relations, but it is also a long and hard day for us. Any help folks can offer will be greatly appreciated.
East Kingdom Court (Starting at 6:00 PM)
We enjoy adding pageantry to these events, and if you are so inclined, please march over with us. We aren’t sure if We are going to be sitting in front with their Majesties, so We will have to adjust what We’re doing when new information comes in. If anyone is available to help move chairs and retain for court, We would again be very grateful.
* Thursday of War Week (8/11 starting at 10:00 AM)
Water Bearing and/or fighting the Woods Battle
Her Excellency will be helping to water bear for both the Rattan and Rapier Woods battles, complete with silver tray. Please come join Her for the fun. It’s an incredible way to see be a part of Pennsic that might be new to you. His Excellency has authorized for rapier and may be fighting in the Rapier Woods battle.
* Friday of War Week (8/12 starting at 10:00 AM)
Rapier Field Battle
Their Excellencies may participate in the Rapier Field Battle this year. Retainers will be appreciated.
We look forward to seeing many of you at Pennsic, especially for the music and game nights. We also encourage everyone to consider volunteering – we’ve been collecting everyone’s beads from doing Watch shifts, to do something with them to display to show the Barony’s service. Any thoughts on _what_ to do with the beads are welcome!
Yours in Service,
Mael Eoin and Ysmay, Baron and Baroness of Bhakail

Monday at Sabine’s house she is offering to find you songs or stories in your persona’s language.
Pennsic will have loads of things! Need help looking through it, just ask.
MoL
Greetings to the Barony
Rumors of War are getting louder. Make sure your weapons are ready and you are authorized to fight for our Beloved East Kingdom. I hope to see our Barony’s colors on the list field. Fight well and with honor.
Chatelaine
Nothing new to report except I have received a donation for Gold Key and several new fighters have continued to attend practices. Some of them will be going to Pennsic and I’ll see how I can help out with garb.

Bailiwick
Canton
The Canton has been deeply enmeshed in the joys that are the Run Up to Pennsic. (An annual competitive illness event…)
Our Gastro-hurlers have been practicing every Tuesday. With a monthly installment of Youth Thunder Chunderers being trained, Thor be praised.
Our artisans have been working diligently to make Vomitorium based arts, in fabric, glass, metal, and a pea/carrot medly. These artisans have even regularly traveling to Caer Adamant to shore up their Chunder-Monkey based arts. Such colors…!
BARONIAL COUNCIL
COUNCIL OF EXCHEQUER
YULE COMMITTEE
Met with new manager Liesl at GSP; everything is good, we have library. Asked her to set aside 2nd Saturday of Dec 2017 for that Yule. Haven’t seen if the announcement is out yet. Have fun at Pennsic
PENNSIC COMMITTEE
Its coming! Possibility that the Barony may be ditching the storage unit as the other portions are no longer getting used. Though the original budget was set to pay for the old storage unit, the current one is larger, so we may be able to go down in size, or the camp fees may be able to cover the extra fees.
BHAKAIL COMMONS
Rapier champion has giving in his information, and she will be talking over the heavy fighter one tonight. They will also be talking with MoL and Chamberlain for getting stuff. Things are rolling along.
YULE 2017
Mistress Philadelphia is putting in a bid. The CoE has reviewed both of her budgets and said that both are fine to move forward. The higher budget includes a higher feast per head cost, and also using a lower break even number. Both bids will now go out to the populace for approval.
