Shire Wars Charter
We’ve been invited to be a ‘signatory’ to the Shire Wars Charter. We need to decide whether we want to sign the Charter, which reads as follows:
“Be it known that We, the undersigned Shires and Their Majesties Ivan Ivanov syn Dimitriov vynuk Tzardikov and Matilde de Cadenet, wishing to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation amongst the local groups of the Western Region of the East Kingdom of the Society for Creative Anachronism, affirm our intent to formally establish an annual regional event known as Shire Wars. This event will promote the joy in research and learning afforded by the Arts, Sciences, and Martial Activities of our Society in the spirit of friendly competition.
The Shire shall establish bylaws for its prudent governance, and will pursue these above stated goals in accordance with those bylaws.

The Barony has supported Shire Wars since its inception, with many members participating, sometimes serving as staff and often as a financial partner; there’s more we can do (agreeing to a rotation of providing/finding an event steward, etc.) and we can (currently) do this with or without signing the Charter. There are bylaws/policies being worked on and I imagine if we sign, we’ll be bound by those; if anyone wants to help represent the Barony in those discussions and decisions, let me know.
Shire Wars 2023
This regional event is looking for someone to step up to run the event this year. Some of the region’s groups have some big events already in progress this year and are unable to take on organizing Shire Wars this year.
